Aqua Kiss
50x80 cm

Deep beneath the surface of a sacred Japanese pond, three koi moved through the water like living brushstrokes — their white and orange scales catching the light as they wove through endless currents of blue. The eldest koi, silver-white and ancient, had swum these waters for a hundred years, and in that time had learned to read the language of the swirling world around her. She led the younger two through ribbons of crimson and flame, through curtains of black that parted like silk, teaching them that the current was not something to fight but something to become. In Japan they say that a koi who persists through the current long enough will transform into a dragon — and on that day, the eldest koi felt the familiar tingle of scales becoming something greater. She rose through the swirling blue, no longer a fish, no longer bound to the pond, but something ancient and magnificent, finally free.
